Happy New Year 🎊 My People🥰,
This Year will be better. So first off a giant welcome to new and old members of JUSTYCHI BLOG.
Let's touch on freelancing.
Have you heard of Freelancing or remote jobs?
Here, I will discuss how to get Upskill and Earn as a Freelance beginner using the Platform UPWORK.
Upwork connects businesses with independent professionals and agencies around the globe. Where companies and freelancers work together as a team. The world's largest online workplace where savvy businesses hire freelancers & remote teams.
It's a great platform for beginner freelancers. It offers a wide variety of work opportunities, and the pay is good. The community is also very supportive, and many resources are available to help you get started.
How to begin on Upwork
First, find your niche, create and optimize your profile, add related relevant Skills, and your related professional history and you get up to 30 Connect which you use to apply for jobs and tasks. As a beginner I would advise sending a proposal ( applying for jobs ) with 2connect, they are quick tasks and at a fixed price but it's a great way to start.
What is Connect via UpWork?
Connects are a key feature on UpWork that helps freelancers stand out to potential clients. They are essentially like an online currency, and the first-time freelancer on Upwork is given 30 free Connects as a welcome gift to use in applying for a job, use it wisely. Once you use up all of your frees connects, you can purchase more at a certain price on Upwork.
Is it better than Fiverr?
Well, I would say that it depends on your preferences. I think Upwork is user-friendly and helpful for a beginner freelancer. I prefer it to Fiverr.
There are other fantastic sites to find remote jobs as a freelancer, I have attached an image of different sites below. Feel free to state your preferred site and why you are using their platform.
Upwork is an online platform that connects freelancers and businesses from all over the world. It's a great way for freelancers to find work and for businesses to find talented professionals to complete projects.
What I love about Upwork is that it's so easy to find and apply for jobs that match my skills and interests. The platform is user-friendly and the process for finding and applying for jobs is straightforward. Plus, the Upwork team is always available to help with any questions or concerns I have.
I've been using Upwork for some months now and I've already made over $1,000 from just three jobs that are still ongoing. The first job I landed was as a Social media Moderator at a fixed price for a small business owner who needed help with engaging comments, Likes, and social media content. The second job was a Digital marketing project for a recruiting firm, and the third was an Executive Virtual assistant position for a CEO Company.
All three of these jobs have been great experiences for me, and I'm learning new skills and gaining valuable experience in various fields. But the best part is that I'm able to work from home and set my schedule, which has been a game-changer for me.
Currently, I am working as a digital marketing manager and an executive virtual assistant on Upwork. In my role as a digital marketing manager, I am responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for my clients, which includes tasks such as creating social media content, managing email campaigns, and analyzing website traffic.
As an executive virtual assistant, my responsibilities include managing emails, scheduling appointments, and assisting with various administrative tasks. I am skilled in time management, organization, Presentation, Research, and communication, which helps me excel in these roles.
I approach my work with a high level of professionalism and dedication, and I am always looking for ways to go above and beyond for my clients. I am also constantly learning and improving my skills to provide the best possible service.
My current jobs on Upwork have been very rewarding and have allowed me to utilize my skills and experience in digital marketing and virtual assistance to help my clients achieve their goals.
Overall, Upwork has been a fantastic resource for me as a freelancer. It's allowed me to earn money and gain valuable experience while working on my terms. And with more success ahead, I'm excited to see what the future holds.

- Submit a strong proposal: In your proposal, outline why you are the best fit for the job and give an outline on how you will approach the project. Be sure to also include any relevant samples of your work.
- Add related Certificates and links to a similar project. Reference and any other details that will help your proposal stand out.
- Follow-up after an interview: If you don't hear back from the client within a few days, consider sending a follow-up message to reiterate your interest in the job and to see if they have any questions for you.
- By following these steps, you can increase your chances of being selected for the job and showcase your skills and experience to potential clients.
Upwork charges a fee to freelancers based on their lifetime billings with a client. The fee ranges from 20% to 10%, depending on the number of lifetime billings with a client.
Here is a breakdown of the fee structure:
For the first $500 billed with a client, Upwork charges a 20% fee.
For lifetime billings with a client between $500.01 and $10,000, Upwork charges a 10% fee.
For lifetime billings with a client over $10,000, Upwork charges a 5% fee.
Upwork charges these fees to cover the costs of operating the platform and providing services to freelancers and clients. These services include payment processing, dispute resolution, and support from the Upwork team.
Overall, the fee structure on Upwork is designed to encourage long-term relationships between freelancers and clients, as the fee decreases as the lifetime billings with a client increase. This benefits both parties by providing the opportunity for ongoing work and a more stable income for the freelancer, and a reliable source of talent for the client.
Overall, Upwork has been a fantastic resource as a freelancer. It's allowed me to earn money and gain valuable experience while working on my terms. And with more success ahead, I'm excited to see what the future holds.
